A ver si dandole publicidad a estos fallos, las marcas toman mas en serio su resolucion.
A esta moto ya le habian puerto unas valvulas Kibblewhite de acero.
Quick history here. I bought my 2003 CRF 450 in October from a gentelman that raced some motocross with it. He had literally thousands of dollars of receipts for maintence on the bike though, and seemed to really care about the thing and take good care of it.
Ok...so the first ten or so rides went pretty good...no problems at all. Around the 12th ride or so, it started developing a valve clearance issues...described to no end on these forums. When the bike became very difficult to start, I gave up and bought a set of Kibblewhite Valves (intake and exhaust) and the spring kit as well. I took the bike head to our local Honda motorcycle shop, and had them professionally install the valves into the head.
Here's the issue. After the first couple rides, I had to adjust the shims, once. Around ride 7 or so, I checked the clearances and they were exactly what I had shimmed them too....i.e Honda specifications.
So, the 10th ride I'm out on the dunes with my buddies, and everything's going fine. We ride for about 2 hours, and then are headed back to the trucks. I'd say I was in 2nd gear, middle to low RPMs, just about to shift down to go into a corner on the trail we were taking. Suddenly the bike goes "Clank! BAM!!" and stops! Just like that. No warning, no loss of power, nothing. Just going along fine, and then stops..
